How long is the agreement?
The agreement is initially for 18 months. If you wish to terminate the agreement you need to give two months notice in writing to My Patch’s registered address.
How secure is the site?
Extensive 6ft fencing has been erected and reinforced with 3ft chicken wire. The intention is to keep out deer, rabbits and foxes. We are keen to maintain this policy so any wildlife of this sort found on this site should be reported so that My Patch can investigate and update/ repair the fencing accordingly.
Why do I have to pay a deposit?
The deposit is used to secure the plot. It also covers the cost to prepare your plot. Where allotmenteers leave after the first full term of their agreement, the deposit can be returnable if agreed but under normal circumstances it is not. Where return is a greed it is only providing all terms and conditions have been met
Is there water on site?
There are currently three water stations. The two lower water stations are turned off during the winter.
Can I pay the deposit in instalments?
Yes you can! You will need to poove that you are unable to pay the deposit in full.
Are there toilets on the site?
No, we no longer offer toilet facilities
How much notice do I have to give to quit?
You will be in an agreement for a year or 18 months after which you will need to give two months written notice. If you wish to terminate your agreement before this you will need to give two months notice before the end of your agreement. Alternatively, you could find someone willing to take over your plot, and providing they complete the agreement and make a deposit this can happen at any time in your agreement.
Can I keep chickens on my plot
Yes you can but you will need to arrange for your plot to be adequately fenced off. You can do this yourself providing you stay within the bounds of your agreement or ask for a quote from My Patch.
Can I pay the deposit by Cheque?
Yes you can. Simply send it with a completed agreement specifying the plot you wish to reserve. However, if this plot is reserved via the website beforehand you will be contacted to reselect a plot. Also, all offers displayed online are only online offers.
Can I put up my shed and water but
You can but it must stay within the boundaries of your agreement. In order to ensure that all allotment areas are kept to a specific standard we require a good standard of shed. Sheds or storage buildings must not exceed the dimensions of 150 (W) x 90 (D) x 120 (H) cm in order to minimise the loss of light to other plot holders. You can apply for taller or bigger and this is subject to agreement to plot holders around you.
Can I make monthly payments by cheque or cash
Put simply no. For the sake of ease a monthly payment must be set up either via our website or by verified standing order (Verified means confirmation of it’s set up has been received by My Patch).
Can I come and have a look around
Yes! Book a site visit by emailing mypatch.co.uk@gmail.com. We strongly advise you have a look around beforehand.
How will I know which patch is mine?
Within 24hrs of you reserving your plot a small sign at the front of the plot with your name and plot number will clearly be displayed in most cases.
Can I rent a plot for summer months only?
No. Rental agreements are currently 18 months with notice to quit required.
Can I buy a plot?
After you have held an agreement for a year with My Patch and providing there has not been any issues with your tenancy you will be able to make an offer to buy. However, My Patch is keen to ensure a large proportion of the plots are kept in their ownership and prices won’t be cheap!
How soon can I rent a plot
We aim to get your welcome pack, copy of contract and details of your plot set up within 48 hours of payment.
